New Music Search Tools

If you haven't noticed, we have launched a set of powerful tools to help you find exactly the MUSIC that your heart desires.

The BROWSE tool allows you to filter and locate artists as specific as you want. THE CHARTS do exactly what music charts are meant to do; while TOURS & SHOWS helps you to locate live music in your area via your favorite genres. These new tools will rock the face off any musicologist out there! Go try 'em out and let us know what you think.

In other news, we have some big changes in the works for the RECENT ACTIVITY area of Your Home. I'll do my best to get you a sneak peek before the week is over. Trust me. You're gonna wanna see this. It's huge! :)

Later this week in the VIRB Blog, I'll also talk about (and screencast) the upcoming address book import utility. What ever could it all mean?!?

I LOLed at the part about the address book. Why say "LOLed" actually? Technically, that'd be "I Lauged Out Louded" and that's just stupid. So, I LOL at the part about the address book… no.. that sounds like an on-going activity, and, while it was funny, I don't know that I will be laughing at it indefinitely.

Oh, right, new features! By default, does the TOURS & SHOWS page show you the ones closest to where you're located? Because that's really great. I know it's a simple step to plug in your zip code and hit submit, but filtering the results by default really adds to the user experience, so big kudos there. And while it can be really hard to classify an artist or group into genres, you give a good amount of options so you can at least land in the general ballpark.

Great stuff!

Dag yo. I'm stoked to see the new features! The address book part sounds terrific, too.

Stoked.

Love all the new features guys – love em. Still waiting for the big one though – picture tagging.

@Kurt Cruse

You can already tag your photos: when you upload/edit a photo, there's the option to "Tag this photo." Unless you're talking about something else… ?

Kurt: Picture tagging? One of us must be confused. Tagging was in place long before private beta.

Kurt is talking about tagging areas of a picture. You can tag an area in the picture with a person on Virb, or just tag it as "Chair", for example.

Something like Flickr has? I think they call them Notes. Facebook does that, too, but you can link to people's profiles.
